The German ambassador to Chad left the country having declared him as persona non grata. The reason is due to discourteous behavior. This was revealed by Chadian Foreign Minister Mahamat Saleh Annadif, while talking to the media.

The junta leader Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno had asked the diplomat to leave the country within 48 hours, for non-compliance with diplomatic practices. It is reported that the German ambassador Jan Christian Gordon Kricke, flew out of the Sahel country in an Air France flight, after getting the marching orders, although the real reason for his ouster was not revealed by the authorities officially.

But in the diplomatic circles, it is rumored that t N’Djamena blamed the diplomat for “interfering too much” in the “governance of the country”, so as to divide the Chadians. However, the German Foreign Ministry had considered “absolutely not understandable” the reasons for the expulsion of its ambassador.

Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno, 37, was proclaimed president on April 20, 2021, after the death of the head of state, his father Idriss Déby Itno, who was killed at the front against rebels. He ruled the vast Sahelian country with an iron fist for 30 years.  N’Djamena had promised to return power to civilians through “free and democratic elections” after 18 months. But he did not vacate his seat after the set time on the plea that he would comply with the demands of a “national reconciliation” forum. The forum had been boycotted by the opposition and the main rebel movements.
