Geopolitical competition is pitching up, spreading its deleterious impact across the world. Importantly, that was the pitch at the annual Boao Forum for Asia, which was held at China’s Hainan Island. Attended by world leaders, the forum warned that the unfettered growth of geopolitical competition would decouple the global supply chains.  Urging to end such meaningless competition, IMF managing director Kristalina Georgieva called for global cooperation and solidarity to reduce geopolitical tensions. To face the uncertainties, she stressed the world should stand together.

Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim had another take. He advocated collaboration among countries to end rivalries, which would not do any good to humanity. Meaningless competition, he stressed, would lead to uneven advancement of technology and throttle growth. Under such a dispensation, only some countries could grow and others would be overstepped.
