Disapproving the choice of the new Prime Minister, youth leaders felt the decision ran contrary to the spirit of change and renewal demanded by the people and expressed through country-wide protests.
Gen Z protesters in Madagascar expressed their anger on have expressed anger on new leader Colonel Michael Randrianirina appointing businessman Herintsalama Rajaonarivelo as the nation’s prime minister. Protesters and their sympathizers maintained that it was a hasty decision and should have taken through a dialogue.
Rajaonarivelo is widely known in the Island Nation as an expert on the Malagasy economic, financial ecosystem and his connection with international organizations like IMF, World Bank, etc. that have operations in Madagascar. Ruphin Zafisambo, was the earlier Prime Minister and has been in that role for last two years.
