The scarcity of fuel has led to disruption of flights in Nigeria. Lack of jet fuel has led to delays and cancellation of several flights in Nigeria. Air Peace, Nigeria’s largest carrier has confirmed that the shortage will impact a number of its flights to Dubai and Johannesburg, its major routes. Arik Air, another major also confirmed that its flights are facing many delays from March 9th. It stated that if the shortage continues, many domestic flights will have to be cancelled. According to local media, airlines like Ibom Air could not fly most of their aircraft on Tuesday, March 8, due to fuel scarcity. It admitted that it is facing a situation where aviation fuel is scarce and therefore unavailable at almost all their flight destinations. Dana Air, another prominent airline, also had to cancel most of their flights due to scarcity of fuel. Several flights scheduled to fly were parked for hours waiting for fuel at Nigeria’s busiest airports in Lagos and Abuja.
