It recorded sales worth Sh13.87 billion from its Kenyan outlets last year.
Carrefour, the French retailer giant has added another Megastore on Uhuru Highway, bringing the number of its outlets in Kenya to eight. The space was earlier vacated by Nakumatt after its collapse. Carrefour, in Kenya is operated by Majid Al Futtaim. The retailer had scheduled opening of the new outlet in March, but was compelled to postpone the opening due to the Coronavirus disruptions
Franck Moreau, the franchise’s country manager said that the opening of the new Carrefour outlet in Nairobi reflected its commitment to present great customer experiences through high-quality retail outlets that offer quality products at the best prices. The new store has also added home delivery services in the region, making it convenient to shop online during the ongoing circumstances of pandemic spread.
According to its annual financial report, Carrefour Kenya’s revenues rose by 2.7 percent to Sh18.2 billion in 2019 compared to Sh17.7 billion a year earlier. Carrefour has been on an expansion mode in Kenya by taking over spaces previously occupied by struggling supermarket chains, including Nakumatt and Uchumi, as well as opening new outlets. Its outlets are located in The Hub in Karen, Village Market, Two Rivers Mall and Sarit Centre.
