French President, Emmanuel Macron is expected to visit Algeria at the invitation of his counterpart, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, the French president said in a message sent recently. The proposed visit has been mentioned in goodwill as a message of friendship and solidarity he (Macron) has sent to his counterpart in Algeria. He also indicated that during his visit he would launch together the new bilateral agenda, built on trust and mutual respect for each other’s sovereignties. On Tuesday (July 4), Algeria celebrated with great pomp the sixtieth anniversary of the end of 132 years of French colonization. It may be noted that the relationship between the two countries took an acrimonious backseat when Macron mentioned in 2021 October that Algeria was built after its independence on “a memory rent”, maintained by “the political-military system. That diplomatic ping pong lasted only for a short while. Relations have gradually warmed up in recent months and the French president and his Algerian counterpart expressed their desire to “deepen” them during a telephone conversation on 18 June.
