It has been 60 years since Algeria gained independence from France. Over the last few months, both countries have been undergoing tumultuous relations and acrimony.
There are explanations from the French president to drive home his will to develop a new relationship. He reported having said that the present generation did not have the choice to cherry-pick the past. It has been perpetrated by the past rulers and administrators of the colonisers and the present should not carry the baggage of that. Rather, the present genre should look forward to burying the differences.

With this trip, the French leader is looking at putting back the relationship between the two countries on a firm footing. Algeria, perhaps, working on the dictum strike when the iron is hot”. The present oil boom, and the Russia -Ukraine war, are undoubtedly pointers to the timeliness of that act.
