The first installment of a long -awaited report on corruption in the country was presented to South Africa’s President Cyril Ramaphosa yesterday (Tuesday). The inquiry committee into the corruption charges was constituted three years ago. It was to inquire into the corruption charges against former president’s Jacob Zuma during his tenure between 2009 and 2018.
The first part of the report gives details about the corruption and mismanagement in the operation of the South African Airways. Ramaphosa said that the government was studying the report and would offer comments only after going through the contents of the reports. Importantly, the full report covers three main areas including state contracts and sponsorships and corruption at the heart of the tax revenue service.
