Nigeria’s FBNInsurance Limited has plans to deepen industry penetration by adding one million policyholders next year, according to its new Managing Director, Tunde Mimiko. He said this at a media briefing in Lagos on how to engage Nigerians at the grassroots to accept insurance and laid emphasis on deploying the ICT sector as the key driver of insurance growth. Penetration and premium payment in the insurance sector would rise, he remarked, as the industry begins to do well.
The company has 3,000 insurance agents, who are driving its business at the grassroots to redefine the insurance business. Very soon, the number of agents would rise to 5000, he revealed, he told the media, adding that it would improve insurance penetration.

The company will use technology to increase its coverage so as to reach 400,000 policyholders and said that insurance-linked health schemes would bring about qualitative changes in the sector and make health instruments more affordable and accessible to the common man.
