The new office of Facebook , the company boasts, would develop products made by Africans, for Africans and the rest of the world. Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg visited Nigeria in 2016 and met Nigerian president Muhammadu Buhari and local businessmen in Legos. With the opening of an office in the country, Facebook indicates its determination to upscale its operations in the continent as also in Nigeria, the largest populated country in the country, having over 200 million people. The internet and mobile penetration in the country is high. The new office will have software engineers and other experts.
The West African region in particular and sub-Saharan region in general is a focused area for many internet companies because of the presence of a large number of English speaking people.
