Ethiotelecom, has inaugurated an advanced modular data center, which entailed a cost of US$3.5 million. The network provides for high availability, reliability of connectivity, and extensive security. The facility will add value to the information technology and network infrastructure.
The state of the art modular data center will save the company annual cost of five to six million birr. It will further reduce operational and maintenance costs by 35 percent of the cost as compared to the “traditional” data. The centre has remote digital operations control capability, without any physical presence at the center and is equipped with high-capacity generators and power storage batteries to tackle power interruption. The new data center is equipped with mobile money and next-generation business support systems and will be operational in the next two months or so.
