Ethiopian tax revenue realization may hit target despite Covid

· The tax income collection of Ethiopia was US$ 6.32 billion during the first eleven months of the current year, which started in
July 8, 2019

· The target set for tax collection for 12 months of this year is US$6.98 billion at current exchange rate.

· Last week, the ministry of finance has brought a draft budget with a total outlay of about US$ 13.84 billion. which is 7% higher than the outlay in the previous year.

The tax income collection of Ethiopia was US$ 6.32 billion during the first eleven months of the current year, which started on July 8,
2019. This was revealed by the Ministry of Revenue of Ethiopia. When translated into collection targets, the ministry said that it has
achieved 89 percent of its revenue collection target for the period. Compared to the previous year’s same period, the revenue of the
country has increased by close to 22 percent. The Ministry has collected about US$533.5 million. The revenue for the month (May 2020)
is 20 percent higher than the money collected in May 2019.

The target set for tax collection for 12 months of this year is US$6.98 billion at current exchange rate. Last week, the ministry of
finance brought a draft budget with a total outlay of about US$ 13.84 billion. which is 7% higher than the outlay in the previous year.
Also, the government has infused close to US$1.4 billion in response to Covid-19.
