In the report on the organisation’s six-month plan for the 2024-25 fiscal year, CEO Beriso Amelo (PhD) highlighted that the authority transported more than two million tons of cargo via sea shipping services during this period.
The Ethiopian Maritime Transport and Logistics Authority generated Birr 46.7 billion in revenue from various sources during the first half of the fiscal year.

The unimodal transport system handled over 654,000 tons of inbound goods and more than 174,000 tons of outbound goods. He also noted that export operations showed improved performance over the past six months. The organisation closed long-standing corporate accounts and made progress in recovering previously uncollected revenues.

In related news, the Ethiopian Customs Commission announced that it collected Birr 203.75 billion in revenue during the first six months of the fiscal year, surpassing its target. The commission had initially planned to collect Birr 190.9 billion within the period. However, actual revenue exceeded expectations, reaching 106 per cent of the target.
