Ethiopia’s Industrial Parks Development Corporation said the nation has obtained over US$152.76 million from exports of industrial park products in nine months, which translates into an increase of 29%.

Since 2014, Ethiopia’s industrial parks have generated US$900 million and created employment for over 44,000 workers.  Of that, over 80 percent are women. Ethiopia has obtained US$33.14 million from the ten-month export of leather and leather products, Ethiopia’s Leather and Leather Products Industry Research and Development Center announced. The sector has also created employment for 8000 workers.

It has been noted that the earning of US$33.14 million is against a target of $69.21 million for the period. Against a target of offering US$104.6 million worth of leather products for the domestic market, US$144.6 million worth of leather products has been sold. While the supply to the domestic market has picked up, exports seem to be lackluster.
