An Ethiopian Airline cargo plane caught fire in China, according to a report. This happened early morning on Wednesday, according to the report, which appeared in a news portal specialized in aviation.
The Ethiopian Airlines 777F aircraft was damaged in the fire. The aircraft was parked at the Shanghai Pudong Airport. The damage was mostly to the centralized fuselage area. The aircraft arrived from Brussels and was to take off to Brazil’s São Paulo GRU. The aircraft flies regularly between Shanghai and Sao Paulo-Santiago. The crew members are reported to be safe.
Ethiopian continued its operations even during the height of the coronavirus pandemic and even opened a special cargo division to haul medicines and equipment to help in global delivery of supplies during the pandemic. Its role in the repatriation of citizens from Africa to other parts of the world and vice versa has come for praise from several quarters. Ethiopian is Africa’s largest airline in terms of passengers carried, destinations served, fleet size, revenue and is also the world’s 4th largest airline by the number of countries served.
