- Ethiopian Ambassador to India Tizita Mulgeta lauded India’s principled stand in supporting Ethiopia at various international forums including in the UN.
In an interview with Ethiopia’s National News Agency, Ethiopian Ambassador to India Tizita Mulgeta lauded India’s principled stand in supporting Ethiopia at various international forums including in the UN.
She stated that as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, India continued to support in the UN Security Council and UN Human Right Council. She applauded India’s stand in respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ethiopia, whenever Ethiopia was discussed in the context of GERD and the Tigray conflict in the Security Council and UN human rights council. Consistent and principled in its support to Ethiopia, India has proved to be a true partner, she remarked.
Ethiopia, she said is keen to strengthen bilateral ties, particularly in defence cooperation. Ethiopia would like to promote closer cooperation with India in defence-related areas such as capacity building, cyber security and experience sharing. In terms of trade and investment between the two countries, the two-way cooperation has shown healthy growth covering sectors like agriculture, textile and garment, food processing etc. More than 600 Indian investors, the Ambassador said are active in her country.
