Ethiopia’s Ministry of Finance has prepared an additional budget of 122 billion birr for its development works. The additional budget has been presented for approval to the Council of Ministers.
The additional budget is aimed at enhancing national security, humanitarian efforts, and rehabilitation of people affected by the ongoing conflict. The government is also undertaking additional development works, beyond that envisaged at the presentation of the budget.
The conflict in northern Ethiopia has caused a lot of strains on the fragile economy of the country, necessitating additional expenditure. The additional budget has to be passed by the House of Peoples’ Representatives.
