Ethiopian Ambassador to Japan, Tefera Derbew, called on Japanese investors to invest in Ethiopia in a large way, given its potential. Representatives of 13 Japanese companies were briefed about investment opportunities in Ethiopia, the level of infrastructure, and the business climate in the country.  They were told about the incentives available for foreign investors during an investment seminar organized by the Ethiopian Embassy in Japan recently.

The seminar also covered issues on agro-processing, textiles and apparel, pharmaceuticals, minerals, and ICT industries. The companies that attended the seminar were engaged in energy, construction, agro-processing, and ICT sectors.

Ethiopia exports various commodities to Japan including coffee and flowers. In May this year, the Japanese Ambassador to Ethiopia Ito Takako stated that the Government of Japan was considering aligning its assistance to Ethiopia with Ethiopia’s TenYear Development Plan.
