The discussions were centred around the implementation of the peace deal that ended the war in Ethiopia’s northern Tigray region as well as humanitarian support.
It may be recalled that the conflict led the U.S. to suspend some preferential trade agreements with Ethiopia. Restoration of those facilities was also discussed at the meeting. It is also reported that Blinken also met humanitarian partners and civil society actors to discuss humanitarian assistance delivery, food security, and human rights. As a part of this, Blinken will also meet with the African Union Commission Chairperson, which brokered the peace deal.
