The Ethiopian Coffee and Tea Authority recently announced that Ethiopia has earned $578 million from coffee exports in six months exceeding the target set for the period. Against the target of123,000 tons, Ethiopia exported 148,000 tons of coffee. Coffee exports have shown a remarkable rise both in terms of value and volume.
China emerged as the top destination for Ethiopian coffee. The exports of coffee to China grew by over 196 percent during the period. Germany used to be the top export destination for Ethiopian coffee followed by Saudi Arabia and Belgium.
