Ethio Telecom has unveiled an advanced ultra-fast EV charging station on Bole-Megenagna Road in Addis Ababa, reinforcing its role as a leader in digital solutions with the slogan: “Bringing New Possibilities.”

As the adoption of electric vehicles in Ethiopia accelerates, this station is tailored to meet the increasing need for quick and efficient charging. It offers three charging modes and can serve up to 32 vehicles at once. The AI-driven smart chargers adjust power delivery based on battery needs, achieving speeds of 1 km per second.

The facility is equipped with eight ultra-fast chargers (600 kW) that can fully charge vehicles in just 15 minutes, along with 12 super-fast chargers (500 kW) for rapid recharges. Smart pole chargers integrated into the city’s infrastructure also provide emergency charging options.

Open 24/7, the station operates entirely on the telebirr SuperApp, facilitating easy cashless transactions for customers. Drivers can manage their charging sessions independently, while real-time monitoring ensures continuous connectivity through fiber, 4G, or 5G networks. This initiative underscores Ethio Telecom’s dedication to sustainable mobility and digital innovation, aiding Ethiopia’s shift towards a smart and eco-friendly future.
