Ethio-Engineering Group (EEG) of Ethiopia has signed an agreement with the Somali region for supply of tractors and implements. The deal worth 174 million birr was signed by CEO of EEG, Meseganu Arega, and head of the regional State, Mustafa Omer, in Jigjiga city recently. Under the agreement, EEG will supply 162 tractors and 324 implements, such as disc plough and harrow, to the region.
EEG has nine subsidiaries that assemble and manufacture various agricultural machinery. The machinery to be supplied to the Somali region will go from EEG’s Adama Agricultural Machinery Industry, one of the nine subsidiaries.
The CEO remarked that the deal provides an opportunity to EEG to play its role in the efforts to modernize the region’s overall agricultural activities. Agriculture sector is given high priority in the Soma region. The State administrator Mustafa assured that the state will facilitate after-sales service.
