Egypt’s Tourism Sector is Resilient – Egyptian Minister of Tourism

Egyptian Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Khaled El-Anany said that there was great rapprochement and cooperation between the Egyptian government and the private tourism sector. Egyptian Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Khaled El-Anany said that there was great rapprochement and cooperation between the Egyptian government and the private tourism sector. He commented on the tourism sector’s performance during the pandemic days to bring it back to normalcy and to ensure the tourist flow gradually picked up. The sector, he said, deserved unprecedented support from the Egyptian state.

This point cropped up during a meeting organized by the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities in cooperation with the Egyptian Federation of Tourist Chambers recently.   Members of the Board of Directors of the Federation and the Tourism Chambers and leaders of the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities and the private sector were present at the meeting.

Despite the Corona and the Ukrainian crisis, the sector did not witness any layoffs of the workers.  Yet, he mentioned that the tourism market was affected, as Russian and Ukrainian tourists represented 40 to 45 percent of incoming tourism to Egypt.

The Egyptian tourist destination is a safe destination. These tourist spots take precautionary and preventive measures with the support of the Egyptian state and health safety controls. The minister called for the cooperation of all stakeholders in the promotion of the tourism sector and referred to the ministerial committee for tourism headed by the Prime Minister to promote the sector.
