Egypt’s Minya Governorate to spend LE 4.1 billion in plan 2021-22

Egypt directs public investments of LE 4.1 billion to Minya Governorate in the 2021-22 plan, according to Minister of Planning Hala el-Saeed. This will  be an annual increase of 10.8 percent compared to the previous year and constitute  1.6 percent of distributed total  public investment. These measures are designed to facilitate community participation and involve citizens in planning and implementation.

The number of development projects in Minya governorate reached 327.

The minister pointed out   public investments worth LE 1.4 billion will be made in  the housing sector and slum development, which will constitute 34% of the allocation under this head. Of that, the local development sector is allocated investments worth LE 604.7 million, or 14.7 percent and  the transport sector LE 547.4 million or 13.4 percent.

The higher education sector will receive EGP 455 million, while the pre-university sector will receive LE 312.4 million, in addition to directing LE 570.5 million to other sectors. Extending safe drinking water and sanitation services are major planks in the housing sector which will entail LE858.2 million. Social housing sector, the Governorate is targeting to spend LE117.5 million.

In the pre-university education sector, the government will establish 105 schools with a total of 1,490 classrooms.  As a part of the “Decent Life” Initiative,  in  the Governorate, where the volume of the initiative’s investments is pegged at EGP 734 million, and the villages covered are 25, the number of beneficiaries are 310,000. The most important sectors benefiting from the initiative are sanitation, transportation, irrigation (filtering canals).
