Egypt’s Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, Hassan El-Khatib, announced that the government has agreed to implement 29 joint measures in collaboration with the Ministry of Finance.
These measures aim to develop the customs clearance system, enhance inspection efficiency, and facilitate trade movement. The ultimate goal is to reduce time and costs for stakeholders while boosting the competitiveness of Egyptian products in global markets.
During his visit to Alexandria, El-Khatib explained that these initiatives are part of a comprehensive government plan to cut customs clearance time by up to 75%, aiming to reduce the process to no more than two working days by the end of 2025.
This plan aligns with the directives of the Cabinet in its 19th session, held on November 14, 2024, which approved the operation of all entities involved in customs clearance around the clock, including weekends and official holidays.

El-Khatib emphasized that Egypt’s strategic geographic location must be efficiently utilized to achieve its goal of ranking among the top 50 countries in global trade within the next two years and among the top 20 by 2030. He also noted the full and continuous support of the political leadership in driving these reforms.
