Egypt’s exports of chemicals rose during the first four months of 2022 by 29 percent, to record US$2.689 billion. Exports clocked at US $2.079 billion during the same period in 2021 for chemical products. Exports accounted for 21 percent of Egypt’s total non-oil exports during the period under review, according to the official figure.

 The chemical industry’s exports of plastics increased by 16 percent to reach US$891.12 million, compared to US$676.68 million in the same period in 2021.The sector’s exports of fertilizers increased by 41 percent to US$888.9 million compared to US$630.9 million during the same period last year.

 Egypt’s exports of inorganic chemicals increased significantly by 126 percent during the first four months of 2022, to record US$385 million. It was US $170 million for the same period in the previous year. Soaps and detergents exports increased by 14 percent, to reach US $99.88 million, compared to $85.7 million during the same period of 2021.
