Egypt’s Automobile Industry Picks Up

AMIC’s report revealed that the overall car sales in Egypt experienced a significant decline of approximately 48% in 2023. The total number of cars sold during the year amounted to 69,175, a considerable drop from the 133,857 units sold in 2022

Egypt’s automotive industry witnessed a remarkable increase in sales during December 2023, according to the Automotive Marketing Information Council (AMIC). Sales of various types of vehicles, including private cars, buses, and trucks, increased by 31.7% year on year (YoY), reaching a total of 10,415 vehicles. This marked the highest sales level achieved in the country throughout 2023.

AMIC’s report revealed that the overall car sales in Egypt experienced a significant decline of approximately 48% in 2023. The total number of cars sold during the year amounted to 69,175, a considerable drop from the 133,857 units sold in 2022.

Specifically, the report highlighted that the sales of private cars in December 2023 reached 8,372 units, reflecting a substantial increase of 52% compared to the 5,524 units sold in the same month of the previous year.

The report indicated that the sales of vehicles, including taxis and ride-sharing services, experienced a notable growth of 22% in December 2023. The total number of vehicles sold during the month stood at 1,255, compared to 1,027 units sold in December 2022.

However, the report also revealed a decline in the sales of buses during the same period. Bus sales decreased to 788 units in December 2023, marking a 42% decrease from the 1,355 units sold in December 2022.
