Prime Minister of Egypt Mostafa Madbouly said that hospitals require constant availability of all medical supplies during the pandemic days and assured of unified procurement of medical supplies and technology in consultation with health ministry.
Madbouly also called for activation of each governorate’s crisis committee so as to ensure daily inspection visits to hospitals and to assess the situations over there. Such constant monitoring would ensure uninterrupted quality services to citizens at the crucial time. Calling upon private hospitals to help the government at this crucial time, the prime minister told them to follow strictly government standards and regulations. They also should come out with specific costs for treatment so that the patients are not at the receiving end. He referred to the recent reports that some of the private hospitals are raking up the cost of treatment at their will.
Minister of Health Hala Zayed reviewed a governorate report on infection rates across Egypt. Six governorates with the highest rate of coronavirus infections, reporting a total number of approximately 15,415 infections, include Cairo, Giza and Alexandria. She added that there are now 5,013 care units nationwide responsible for distributing treatment and monitoring cases and there are 340 hospitals allocated to treating coronavirus cases, covering 3,539 intensive care beds, 2,218 ventilators. There are 49 laboratories nationwide, which are prepared to conduct coronavirus tests, with a further eight laboratories to be added in the coming week.
