Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi received Danish prime minister Mette Frederiksen at a function held in her honour in Cairo. The two heads of state discussed illegal immigration and the steps being taken by Egypt to counter it. The Egyptian president stressed that his country was keen not to be a crossing point for people looking to get to Europe illegally. Russian-Ukraine war and its after-effects were also figured in the discussions.
The importance of finding a solution to the continuing war was discussed threadbare as how the two countries-Egypt and Denmark- could contribute to easing global tensions and ensuring the security and stability of the region. The discussions were also centered around how Egypt and Denmark could cooperate on renewable energy and environmental initiatives.

The visiting president underscored the need for arriving at a general consensus to end the Russian-Ukraine war that disrupted the global supply chains and kept commodity prices artificially high. The visiting dignitary also referred to difficulties being encountered by most African countries on account of the war. Coming close on the heels of Covid-19 pandemic, the continuing conflict has affected global growth. President Frederiksen also visited the Sheikhdom of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif where she met with Grand Imam Ahmed el-Tayeb.
