Hala Zayed, Egyptian Minister of Health has announced the complete vaccination of the tourism workers. People who are involved in the related segments of tourism are also being vaccinated to ensure to the visitors that the country is safe to visit. The industry is recovering in Egypt. In January to March this year, there were 300, 000 tourists per month. April ended with 525, 000 tourists. This works out 50% of the tourist traffic flow prior to the pandemic.

Egypt’s tourism industry received a major setback following the 2011 uprising, which resulted in toppling of longtime autocrat Hosni Mubarak, and most recently the coronavirus pandemic. Egypt has reported more than 264,557 confirmed cases of coronavirus and 15,178 deaths. Recently, Egypt said that it would vaccinate at least 40% of the country’s population against the virus by the end of this year.
