Egypt intends to launch qualitative cooperation with the shipping giant “Maersk” for locally manufactured clean fuel for ships. Maersk has a plan to establish a project to produce clean fuel for ships in Egypt with investments of US$15 billion. The project is expected to provide more than 100,000 job opportunities in various specialties.
Egyptian President Abdel Fatah El-Sisi recently met the chief executive of the shipping company where the president directed the start of cooperation with the company to establish an integrated national network in the country to produce and distribute green energy and clean fuels for ships.

The shipping line expressed its appreciation for the extended cooperation with Egypt through the Suez Canal Authority to supply clean energy to ships passing through Suez Canal so that the waters and nearby areas are not polluted. Cooperation between the Suez Canal Authority and Maersk Group, especially in the areas of training, exchange of experiences, maritime transport, logistics, container handling terminals, and marine services was also discussed at the meeting.
