Egypt surges ahead in terms of construction of raods and highways

Head of the Roads and Bridges Authority,Hossam Mustafa, said that the high population density and encroachment  surrounding the Ring Road remains a major challenge for the Egyptian government.

The state  has implemented  85 percent of the national road plan, which spans over 7,000 kilometers, at LE 175 billion, Mustafa said.

Egypt has jumped 90 points within 5years from 118th to 28th place in terms of competitiveness of the infrastructure sector.  No country has done what Egypt has done concerning improving the level of road service, he added.

Mustafa  said that the state allocated LE 35 billion to raise the efficiency of internal roads in the governorates.   A protocol was
signed with the Ministry of Local Development to start in the 12 governorates most in need.  Another protocol worth LE 5 billion was prepared.
