The Minister explained that the project is designed to maximize the value of the region’s natural gas resources and strengthen Egypt’s attractiveness to international investors.

Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources of Egypt, Karim Badawi, witnessed the signing of two major cooperation agreements aimed at strengthening digital exploration capabilities and enhancing the technological infrastructure of Egypt’s oil and gas sector. These have taken place during his participation in the ADIPEC 2025 Conference and Exhibition in Abu Dhabi,

The first agreement focuses on implementing an advanced seismic survey project using Ocean Bottom Nodes (OBN) technology in the Eastern Mediterranean, covering an area of approximately 95,000 square kilometers.

The Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) will carry out the project in partnership with a consortium comprising SLB and Veridyen, which secured the contract through a competitive tender issued by EGAS.

The Minister explained that the project is designed to maximize the value of the region’s natural gas resources and strengthen Egypt’s attractiveness to international investors. He added that the high-resolution seismic data produced will help reduce investment risks, support exploration decisions, and accelerate drilling and production activities. The implementation will take place over three phases starting in 2026, beginning with a survey area of 18,000 square kilometers.

The second agreement extends the operation and development of Egypt’s digital Exploration and Production Gateway (EUG) for an additional three years, with new investments of USD 44 million.
