According to the agreement with the Transmashholding Company, a Russian-Hungarian alliance, Egypt will get 1300 vehicles within 40 months of the date of signing of the contract. The contract includes the manufacture and supply of 800 air-conditioned coaches, to be used for third class travelers, a new service being offered to passengers. The Russian made coaches will be pressed into service on the main lines in Lower and Upper Egypt. They will replace some of the old coaches currently operating.
