Talk of a new initiative to promote the adoption of NatGas in older vehicles has been around for a while.

Minister of Finance, Egypt Ahmed Kouchouk announced that the Egyptian government is preparing to launch two key initiatives aimed at encouraging the adoption of natural gas in both cars and buses, as well as the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) in the market. He did not disclose a possible timeline.

These initiatives are part of a broader effort to support the transition to greener, more economical transportation solutions, and to boost sustainable economic growth, according to an official statement on Tuesday.

Talk of a new initiative to promote the adoption of NatGas in older vehicles has been around for a while. In a late December cabinet meeting, Petroleum Minister Karim Badawi outlined the work of a joint task force from the Ministries of Finance and Petroleum that had been leading the initiative.

He announced that the initiative was ready for launch and would be supported by a public awareness campaign to show the benefits of switching to natural gas-powered vehicles.
