Egypt plans to boost the share of renewable from one percent to 20 percent of the energy produced by 2022 and is on the look out for partnerships. According to a statement from the Ministry of Defense, Egypt’s Minister of Military Production Mohamed Saeed al-Assar led a delegation to China and visited some Chinese companies to explore tie-ups for solar-power projects in Egypt. Egyptian delegation included representatives from the Ministries of Defense, Environment, Electricity, Investment and International Cooperation, etc. The delegation met and held discussions with China Electronics Technology Group (CETC), China Metallurgical Group Corporation (MCC), China Enfi Engineering Corp., and China Silicon Corporation Ltd (SINOSICO). Prior to this visit, the Egyptian Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat held several meetings with top 10 Chinese firms seeking investments and collaborations to improve broadband access and quality, digital transformation and e-commerce. The discussions took place on the sidelines of the Belt and Road Digital Economy International Cooperation conference that was attended by Egyptian President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi.aa
