The Egyptian Cabinet’s Information and Decision Support Center (IDSC) has revealed that the country moved forward five notches to 73rd out of 120 countries on the Inclusive Internet index for 2021. The index was created by the Economist Intelligence Unit. It found that Egypt was continuing its path towards technological development and the implementation of digital transformation plans.
The 2021 jump compared to the ranking of 78th Egypt achieved in 2020. It ranked in 4th place in Africa, after South Africa, Morocco, and Kenya. The feat was achieved thanks to its remarkable progress in the local e-content relevancy category. It has jumped 12 places in the Relevance category.
The index provides a rigorous benchmark of national-level internet inclusion in 120 countries across four categories: Availability; Affordability; Relevance; and Readiness.
