Under the central theme “Accelerating Commercial Exploration, Discovery and Extraction,” the Egypt Mining Forum, scheduled for 15–16 July 2025, is poised to spotlight Egypt’s renewed focus on revitalizing its mining sector. This high-level event will showcase significant policy reforms and regulatory enhancements introduced to position Egypt as a premier destination for global mineral exploration and investment.
The forum will serve as a convergence point for key stakeholders including government policymakers, investors, international mining firms, and industry experts. Discussions will revolve around unlocking Egypt’s vast mineral potential—particularly within the Arabian Nubian Shield—and overcoming geological and infrastructural challenges. A major goal is to attract foreign direct investment by fostering an investor-friendly climate that emphasizes transparency, efficiency, and profitability.
A core component of the dialogue will center on Egypt’s ambition to increase the mining sector’s contribution to the national GDP from the current 1% to 6% by 2030. To facilitate this growth, the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources (MoPMR) has introduced a new Mineral Exploitation Agreement Model. This framework ensures a fair distribution of risk and reward between the government and investors, encompassing both exploration and production phases. It also streamlines licensing processes, enhances regulatory clarity, and introduces balanced fiscal incentives.
In parallel, the Egyptian Mineral Resources Authority (EMRA) has undergone a strategic transformation into a financially independent economic entity. This restructuring is designed to strengthen EMRA’s role in sector development, improve governance, and boost Egypt’s attractiveness to international investors.
Now in its fourth edition, the Egypt Mining Forum will feature 20 sessions spread across two parallel tracks: the Strategic Conference and the Technical Conference. These sessions will cover critical topics including advancements in exploration geology, digital transformation in mining operations, improvements in operational efficiency, and strategies for sustainable and environmentally responsible mining.
