The Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade will incorporate the sectors responsible for foreign trade and exports, encompassing various entities such as the Commercial Representation Authority, trade agreements Sector, Exhibition Authority, Export Development Fund, Export Development Authority, and Export Control Authority, according to sources cited by local media platforms.

The Ministry was reinstated again in Mostafa Madbouly’s latest ministry, with the appointment of Hassan El-Khatib as the minister. Upon their establishment, all sectors involved in foreign trade and the export domain will be incorporated as affiliated bodies under the Ministry of Investment.

This ministry was formerly known as the Ministry of Public Business Sector, until the Ministry of Public Business Sector was separated from it on March 23, 2016. Then the ministry was permanently abolished in 2018. Foreign trade plays a pivotal role in economic development by developing exports in various sectors and raising the level of local production to face global competition.

Madbouly’s latest ministry, the planning, and international cooperation files have re-merged under the mandate of Rania Al-Mashat. The recent merger of the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation aims to foster governmental cohesion in addressing the shared objectives of both entities. This integration will streamline the development of sustainable economic and social plans until 2030, ensuring effective monitoring, evaluation, and implementation.
