The trade and industry ministers of Egypt, Jordan and Iraq have agreed to start implementing commercial and industrial integration among them as a direct result of a virtual meeting held among them.

An Egyptian technical team would be sent to Iraq   in the coming days with the participation of the Jordanian embassy in Baghdad to have an idea about Iraqi investment opportunities and look at the possibilities for reopening the closed and damaged factories over there.

The Jordanian and Iraqi ministers had visited Egypt earlier  and discussed implementation of a number of joint projects in the fields of trade and industry.

Egypt’s sectors for joint cooperation include pharmaceutical, chemical, petrochemical, and leather and ceramics industries. The North African country is also studying the establishment of a permanent exhibition center for Egyptian and Jordanian products in the
Iraqi capital.

Jordanian Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply Maha Ali highlighted the importance of electronic linkage between the customs authorities of the three countries to facilitate the process of trade exchange among them. Iraqi Minister of Industry and Minerals Manhal Aziz al-Khabbaz, said that his country is keen to open up to the Egyptian and Jordanian markets and to start urgent steps towards achieving economic integration.

While taking stock of the future trade and investment prospects, the ministers also discussed the need for lifting restrictions and obstacles that hinder the flow of intra-trade among the three countries. Granting easier access to products and services to each other’s country can enhance the intra-trade, they opined.
