The Ministry of Trade and Industry of Egypt has made efforts to  synchronize Egyptian standard mechanism with the international standards. The country is also adopting new specifications to meet local needs, according to  Trade and Industry Minister Nivine Gamea.

These efforts are intended to roll out high-quality products in the local market and to boost  exports to global markets. This, Gamea  said during her visit to the Egyptian Organization for Standardization and Quality (ESO) recently.
She said that the ministry  is providing  factory owners with all technical support needed to advance their production system to comply  with internationally-recognized standards.

The minister visited some of the organization’s testing labs, energy efficiency units, a training center, and citizen’s service unit.  Gamea said that the Egyptian standard specification system is currently being reviewed to cope with international developments. Efforts are underway to find new
markets. Egypt is also developing
in cooperation with standardization bodies all over the world and  relevant regional and international bodies competence  to draw up new specifications and technical regulations that are in harmony with international practices.

The EOS is the only national body in Egypt undertaking all the relevant activities of preparing and issuing Egyptian standards, quality assurance and conformity assessment for relevant products.
