Egypt’s chemical industry exports recorded USD 4 million during the first half of 2024, representing 20% of Egypt’s total non-oil exports, according to a report released by the Egyptian Chemicals and Fertilizers Export Council.

Plastic exports amounted to about USD 1.198 billion for the first half of 2024, with a growth rate of 3% compared to the same period in 2023. The percentage of plastic exports to total chemical industry exports is 29%. According to the report, the number of countries importing from Egypt has grown to 164 worldwide.

The Egyptian Chemicals and Fertilizers Export Council’s goal is to facilitate trade and support Egyptian companies in their efforts for global expansion, as the number of companies in the sector now is more than 9,877 institutions with a capital of USD 11.68 billion, according to a statement by the Chairman of the council, Khaled Abul Makarem. He added that the total industrial output reached more than USD 9 billion in 2023, and the volume of annual domestic consumption reached USD 4.2 billion.

The sector’s strong competitive value is evident through measuring the indicators of growth rate in investment and the number of companies covered by the sector; in addition to the high level of contributions to employment, export growth, and GDP.
