The Egyptian-Indian Business Council adopted an investment initiative for the year 2027 aimed at increasing Indian investment in Egypt to USD 5 billion, according to a statement issued by the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade.

This came during the members of the Egyptian-Indian Business Council’s meeting with Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, Hassan El-Khatib.

During the meeting, the Council members reviewed the volume of visits exchanged by official delegations from both sides to Egypt and India, which increased trade exchange between the two countries. The members also pointed to the Indian companies present in Egypt in sectors such as chemical industries and plastic waste recycling.

They expressed the intention of several Indian companies to enter the Egyptian market in many vital fields such as new energy, green hydrogen, engineering industries, communications, and information technology. In 2023, the total value of Indian investments in Egypt stood at USD 3.2 billion, which is diversified across 52 projects spanning multiple sectors such as food industries, chemicals, and tourism.
