Egyptian Minister of Planning and Economic Development Hala el Saeed said that the volume of bilateral trade between Egypt and Canada has touched US$1.7 billion. Given the present trend, it is expected to further increase to an appreciable level.
Saeed was participating in a webinar held by the Canada -Arab Business Council on the economic and investment relations between Egypt and Canada. Canadian Minister of International Trade Mary Ng and Egyptian Ambassador to Canada Ahmed Abu Zeid were also present at the webinar.
Saeed said that Canada’s private sector plays a key role in the Egyptian market and achieved major breakthroughs. Recently, a major Canadian company, in cooperation with its Egyptian counterpart, won a contract to implement the electric train “monorail” in the New Administrative Capital and in the 6th of October City.
Canada’s minister of international trade said her country’s keenness on increasing cooperation with Egypt in various fields, saying that Egypt is one of the key countries in the Arab world and the African continent.
