Efforts to strengthen Ethiopian -Turkey economic cooperation

·      Turkish investors are the second-largest foreign investors in Ethiopia, creating thousands of employment opportunities. The strong ties the two countries enjoy need to be cemented by business and investment relations between the business communities, the Ambassador said, adding that the Ethiopian government was committed to help investors in their ventures in Ethiopia.

 

Ethiopian Embassy in Ankara, Turkey, held a two-day trade and investment forum recently in collaboration with the Industrialist Businesswomen and Businessmen Confederation of Turkey (SANKON). Adem Mohammed, Ethiopia’s Ambassador to Turkey, highlighted the strong relationship between Ethiopia and Turkey.   Turkish investors are the second-largest foreign investors in Ethiopia, creating thousands of employment opportunities.

Ferudun Cevahiroglu, President of the Industrialist Businesswomen and Businessmen Confederation of Turkey (SANKON), said that the Turkish government’s commitment to support Ethiopia’s growth and development.

Four major areas of cooperation between the two countries were identified, which covered textile and agro-processing; leather, mining, and energy; technology and tourism; and pharmaceutical and health. There was also a B2B session between the Ethiopian and Turkish businesspeople followed by a signing of an MoU between the Ethiopian Chamber of Commerce and Sectoral Association and SANKON in the presence. The event was attended by over 100 members of the Turkish business community and  25 businesspeople from Ethiopia.
