The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, is strengthening partnership with the European Union to promote human capacity development, job creation and tackling illegal migration, among others. This statement was made by Obaseki while receiving the Ambassador of the European Union to Nigeria and the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), Ms Samuela Isopi, who was on a visit to the Government House, Benin City.

The governor said the state is consolidating ties with the EU and exploring new areas of investments in the culture and tourism, education, tech and other sectors of the state’s economy. He said that the strong relationship with EU has helped Nigeria to stem the tide of irregular migration and human trafficking, particularly from Edo.

The Governor further added that Nigeria has been collaborating with the EU to create institutions to train the young people, and certify and equip them so that they could be properly engaged and employed in Europe.
