- In a bid to restore Guinea to constitutional rule at the earliest, the (ECOWAS) decided to freeze bank accounts and introduce travel bans for the junta members and their families.

The regional body affirmed that it will work closely with the United Nations, African Union, European Union and other bi-lateral and multi-lateral countries to ensure the implementation of the sanctions.
In a Communiqué issued after the summit, ECOWAS has conveyed to the CNRD to hold fresh presidential and parliamentary elections within six months’ time and said that a long transitional period of military power in that country will not be acceptable. It also demanded immediate and unconditional release of the ousted president, Alpha Condè, from detention. Until the restoration of constitutional order, Guinea will be suspended from all ECOWAS governing bodies.
