Dutch payment platforms technology provider PayU has announced its plans to partner with Kenya’s Cellulant to launch local operations. Mr Corrie Bakker, Africa head of strategy and business development said that Cellulant, was chosen as a partner in view of its presence across Africa, and expertise in formulating pay platforms that integrate payment channels.
The partnership with Cellulant he said will ensure hyper-localisation and payment method expansion. Mr Bakker said its entry Kenya’s growing market, was ideally suited for investment and strategic expansion across East Africa. PayU received commercial license last February. The launch of its services is expected to e conclude transactions with ease within and across the borders.
PayU recently acquired several fintech firms across Europe, Middle East and Asia such as Wibmo, Citrus, PaySense and Zest Money.It has invested in Creditas, LazyPay, Remitly and Israeli-based Zooz.
