A 23- year old young man from Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) Baraka Safari Elie’s invention of a rechargeable iron box, the first of its kind in the Democratic Republic of Congo, is the talk of the town. The iron box is rechargeable and can conserve energy up to 3 hours. It is the fruit of the hard work taken up by the young man for eight months at a stretch.
What that earns kudos is his intentions. He wants to help improve the lives of Congolese people in a country where electricity is a problem. Baraka Safari Elie in his early twenties, is already an entrepreneur and Director of BANZELA , a company he founded and nurtured. The rechargeable iron box can be used at a stretch for three hours. Not only that, the iron box is portable and can be carried with him wherever one goes to keep the outfit smart and elegant.

People are intending for his products, which have evoked great interest among the local population since it is one among a few such devices the country can command as made in DRC. The iron box is costing US$25 a piece, which is costly in accordance with the purchasing power of the people. The import of raw materials is a challenge since it is not locally available and has to be imported from neighboring counties, whose borders are closed because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
