Dire Dawa Free Trade Zone was inaugurated in August last year. It was built in Dire Dawa because of the city’s proximity to ports, market potential, and access to multimodal transportation.

The free trade zone will create employment opportunities for a maximum of 100,000 citizens. It will also provide support for the manufacturing, importing, and exporting procedures and offer customs duties privileges. It is also expected to lay a significant role in reducing the cost of logistics.
